The Archaeological Museum of Naxos is located in Chora Naxos, the heart of the island. The museum hosts objects and artefacts from the period between the Neolithic and the early-Christian periods. 

Portara is the large marble gate dominating the isle Palatia, which is nowadays connected with Chora Naxos, and is the only remnant of the temple dedicated to Apollo, which dates back to the 7th century BC.

Agios Prokopios: One of the best Greek, maybe even European, beaches is located 5 kilometers away from the city of Naxos. Its endless shore is 1,5 kilometers long, with white sand and rare natural beauty.

Due to its size, central position in the Aegean Sea and natural wealth Naxos has been self-sufficient since antiquity.

Its olive oil and fruit was renowned throughout the archipelago, while its wine was likened to the nectar consumed by the Gods.

The island also produces excellent thyme honey and good wine, while the potatoes of Naxos have a history, taste and fine quality that has made it famous.

The production of the citron-flavored spirit, originally known as kitrorako, is a very old affair, but around 1870 a new distillate was developed from alcohol and citron leaves –today’s widely known Naxos citron liqueur.
